I love the main character in this book. I cheered her on from my side all the way through the story! She is so strong, but so scared...all at the same time. Her courage and never give up attitude won me over.

Being a New Orleans native, this book holds a special place for me. It reveals a part of history in "The Big Easy" that was new and fresh to me. Josie Moraine is such a strong protagonist and I think everyone who reads this book strives to have her strength of character.

one of my favorite books! my favorite aspects of this novel is the diversity of the characters and the independence of the protagonist. this novel really provides a story that many can find relatable in some way, even if you aren't the daughter of a brothel prostitute. I highly recommend it!!!

AuthorMy name is Katie Moisant and I am one of the 2 Librarians at Oakland High School in Murfreesboro, TN. Mrs. Hays (my fellow "book whisperer") and I love talking about books we have read -- the good, the bad, and the ugly! I am excited to hear from the OHS students, faculty, and staff about what books they have read and their thoughts on those books.... Archives
